Rather than relying on vintage germanium components, VOX developed a unique silicon-based design that faithfully recreates the nonlinear response and expressive feel of the original circuits while significantly reducing noise and inconsistency. At the heart of the pedal is a hand-selected Silver Can BC109 transistor, carefully biased to provide an expanded edge-of-breakup sweet spot and impressive volume knob cleanup. The addition of a Fat switch broadens the boosted frequency range, allowing players to move from classic cutting treble boost tones to thicker, fuller sounds with ease.
