The Gibson J-45 has been one of the most recognizable acoustic guitars ever built, earning its reputation through decades of recordings, songwriting sessions, and stages around the world. The J-45 Special takes that iconic round-shoulder formula and offers a more stripped-down, approachable version while keeping everything that makes a J-45 special in the first place. Built in Bozeman, Montana, it delivers the warm midrange, balanced response, and woody character that players have associated with the model since 1942.
One of the unique aspects of the J-45 Special is its slightly thinner "concert depth" body, giving it a tighter low end and a comfortable feel whether you're writing at home, recording, or spending hours on stage. The satin nitrocellulose finish lets the guitar resonate freely while giving it a broken-in look and feel right out of the case. Paired with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze pickup system, the J-45 Special transitions seamlessly from the couch to the studio or live performance.
