The Epiphone Explorer 80s EMG takes its cues from the highly sought-after 1984 Explorer, pairing the unmistakable shape with the features that made these guitars a fixture of ’80s hard rock and metal. The mahogany body is finished in Classic White with black hardware details and no pickguard, giving it the stripped-down look associated with the era.
A mahogany neck with a 60s SlimTaper profile and 24.75" scale keeps the feel fast and familiar, while the rosewood fingerboard features a 12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid dot inlays. A Graph Tech nut, mini die-cast tuners, and Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar provide a straightforward, dependable hardware setup.
The electronics are built around the classic active EMG combination of an EMG 60 at the neck and EMG 81 at the bridge. Each pickup gets its own volume control alongside a master tone and three-way toggle. The active electronics are powered by a 9V battery with a dedicated rear-access compartment, and an Epiphone premium gig bag is included.
