Joe Bonamassa’s Rare Les Paul Reimagined: The 1955 Standard in Copper Iridescent
The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa 1955 Les Paul Standard is a tribute to one of the rarest vintage Les Pauls in existence. Joe Bonamassa, renowned for his exceptional guitar collection, partnered with Epiphone to recreate his prized 1955 Les Paul Standard, which features a unique Copper Iridescent finish originally developed for the 1955 NAMM Show. This color is particularly special as it appears dark brown from a distance, but reveals gold metal flakes in direct light, creating a captivating iridescent effect.
Key specifications include a pair of Epiphone P-90 PRO pickups, known for their dynamic, punchy tone that can deliver both bell-like clarity and a snarling overdrive. These pickups are paired with high-quality CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors, ensuring top-tier sound and tonal versatility. The guitar’s Custom ’59 Rounded C neck profile strikes a balance between vintage feel and comfort, making it ideal for players seeking a substantial but smooth neck.
One of the standout aesthetic features is the attention to detail put into the matching copper knobs. Reproducing the exact color was a complex process that involved close collaboration between Epiphone’s and Gibson Custom’s teams. The guitar also comes with a custom "Nerdville" hardshell case, named after Joe's personal guitar collection haven, adding a touch of Bonamassa’s personal flair.
