Detroit Guitar Launches Its Dealer Select ’62 Strat Series
Big things are happening at Detroit Guitar. After months of collaboration with Fender Custom Shop, we’re proud to introduce our exclusive Dealer Select ’62 Stratocaster series. This isn’t a standard run — it’s a collection built to our specs, designed to deliver the sound, feel, and vibe we’ve always wanted to put in players’ hands. And the first five have just landed, setting the tone for what’s to come.
The ’62 Strat Super Heavy Relic – Super Faded Aged Black is dark, moody, and full of attitude. With its Super Heavy Relic finish, hand-wound DG62S pickups, full shielding, and push/push tone control, this Strat is as flexible as it is fierce.
The ’62 Strat Heavy Relic – Super Faded Aged Surf Green is a nod to Fender’s golden-era surf culture. It pairs the same DG62S pickup set with modernized wiring tweaks, and its Heavy Relic finish gives it that played-in magic without going over the top.
The ’62 Strat Closet Classic – Aged Candy Apple Red brings bold color with subtle wear. The Closet Classic treatment adds just the right touch of vintage flavor, making it a stage-ready classic that doesn’t cross into extreme relic territory.
The ’62 Strat Journeyman Relic – Aged Shoreline Gold is warm and refined, with a finish that strikes a perfect balance between new and old. The Journeyman Relic look gives it character without excess, while the DG62S pickups ensure its voice is as rich as its appearance.
The ’62 Strat Closet Classic – Aged Seafoam Green adds a fresh, classic Fender tone to the lineup. With the same Closet Classic wear (light aging) and your signature spec package, it’s perfect for players who want vintage aesthetics in a softer, pastel palette.
Each of these Strats shares the foundation of the series: rift-sawn maple necks with adjusted ’60s Oval “C” carves, AAA rosewood fingerboards, nitro finishes, modern shielding, and our exclusive hand-wound DG62S pickups. Add in the push/push tone mod that unlocks new pickup combinations, and you’ve got a lineup that looks vintage but plays with modern versatility.
These are only the first arrivals in a larger Detroit Guitar Dealer Select series. More variations are already in production, and we’ll be showcasing them as they land. For now, this opening wave sets the bar high — each finish and relic treatment tells its own story, while the core specs tie everything together.
The first five Dealer Select Strats are here and ready to ship. Visit DetroitGuitar.com to explore the collection, or stop by our Birmingham showroom to try them for yourself. This is just the beginning — more exclusive builds are on the way.
