Detroit Guitar Dealer Select ’62 Strats: First Wave Arrives
We’ve thrown open the gates on our Dealer Select ’62 Strat series — a lineup that blurs the line between vintage charm and modern playability. Crafted in collaboration with Fender Custom Shop, these guitars share a common vision: pay homage to the past while pushing performance forward.
Here’s the first wave (now with one more to the fold):
-
’62 Strat Heavy Relic – Super Faded Aged Surf Green — A salute to Fender’s surf-era roots, this guitar rocks a bold relic finish and our signature DG62S pickups for crisp, jangly tone.
-
’62 Strat Closet Classic – Aged Candy Apple Red — Elegant wear, vivid color, and stage-ready aesthetics — this one walks the tightrope between vintage and refined.
-
’62 Strat Journeyman Relic – Aged Shoreline Gold — Balanced, warm, and full of character, the Journeyman treatment gives it that lived-in look without going overboard.
-
’62 Strat Closet Classic – Aged Seafoam Green — Soft vintage pastel tones meet subtle aging — ideal for players who want style with personality built in.
-
’62 Strat NOS – Aged Olympic White — This one’s currently the purest-looking of the bunch. NOS (New Old Stock) finish, but with a gentle aging touch. True to the Detroit Guitar formula, it features DG62S hand-wound pickups (lightly overwound bridge, regular mid, lightly underwound neck), push/push tone mod, shielded cavities, modern string spacing, and more.
What unites them all beneath their different exteriors is the DNA: rift-sawn maple necks with adjusted ’60s Oval “C” profiles, AAA rosewood fingerboards, nitrocellulose finishes (each relic or aging treatment applied with intention), modern shielding, and our custom DG62S pickups. The push/push tone switch unlocks non-traditional wiring combos (bridge + neck, all three pickups, etc.), so they look vintage — but play far beyond vintage constraints.
With this new addition, the first wave now spans five distinct finishes and feels. More builds are already rolling through the shop, and we’re excited to keep unveiling new flavors.
